It snowed the night Alaina was born in Utah. Christy had to be induced. It was the last time Alaina would have to be prompted to do anything she wanted to do. But given how much she cried in the first couple years of her life, maybe Alaina didn’t really want to come out. Maybe it was the cold night.
When she was a toddler, the doctors said she was too small. They said she had “failure to thrive.” I think they were wrong. Maybe we should drop her off at their house for the weekend so they can re-diagnose. I don’t know a kid more full of life and vinegar. If I can sense anything about human behavior, she won’t be a follower and I’m thankful for that. I pray that the Lord molds that drive for his purpose.
As we celebrate her 11th birthday (dad’s crepes, Lego Movie, Fung’s Kitchen, gymnastics and dad’s spicy pasta). We’re thankful for the time we’ve had with Alaina, the fun she is, the big heart she’s growing into, and we pray for the Lord’s guidance and direction for the rest of her years. We love you Alaina. We love your spirit. We love your smile. We love your wicked little chuckle and the mischief in your eye. Be blessed little Bug.
