Baby steps to the passport office…

More than a few months back I started this blog with a post ‘Toward the Upward Call’ to let our friends and family know that we were praying and planning to move forward in the Lord’s call and an opportunity to minister in Kenya. We asked for prayer over the first step in that process, a scouting trip in early 2014. Well, the dates are now set and God has provided for Isabelle and Alaina to make the trip as well. Lord willing, we’ll be traveling to Nairobi in late March to spend 10 days with Ed and Kelli Compean, get a lay of the land, meet with some very special brothers and sisters in Christ, see some giraffes and eat some special garlic-fried paneer.

Getting a feel for life in Nairobi and Githurai is on the agenda, as well as researching options and estimating expenses for housing, transportation, health care, food, etc. But I’m so much more excited to spend time with Ed and Kelli and the brothers and sisters at Calvary Chapel Githurai, to see where our four little cells may fit into the body, for Christy and the girls to meet and fellowship with some of the beautiful people I had a chance to meet a couple years ago.

This is no small journey physically or emotionally for the four Garbs.  We would be so blessed if you would join in prayer with us for God’s provision for the trip, including passport and immunization costs for the girls, his spiritual and physical protection, and a clear vision and stout faith for today and every day ahead.

Matthew 6:25 -33 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Reblogged this on Ed & Kelli in the Uttermost and commented:
Our good friends the Garbarino clan are getting read to come over to spy out the land and find how they fit into the ministry. Please be in prayer for them and their vision tour. There will be great fun, but there will also be great work as they look at leaving all they know behind. We rejoice to be part of this, but we more so seek our great sending and missionary God to guide and protect them through this season. Read below and rejoice:
